Last year a landmark lawsuit affirmed what we already knew to be true: The students who need the most get the least under Pennsylvania’s current public school funding system. PA’s Supreme Court ruled that this injustice is unconstitutional, and issued a clear mandate: Fund public schools NOW! With your commitment and leadership, we can make sure politicians in our State Legislature meet that mandate and finally fully fund our public schools starting this year. It is time to ensure that children in our communities are no longer denied the education they deserve.

Join Make the Road Pennsylvania's members, students, families, and teachers across the school districts of Allentown, Reading, Hazleton, and Philadelphia on Wednesday, May 1st, to raise your voice for well-resourced public schools. The Fund Our Schools Now rally will kick off at the Capitol Steps at 11 a.m., and then we’ll step inside to visit our legislators and share how full funding will support the children and families in our communities.

Please join us! As our elected officials negotiate the state budget, we can make sure funding our public schools is a top priority.

Last May Day

Last May Day we joined other progressive organizations and created a coalition that mobilized over 500 PA working families to the state capital steps in Harrisburg urging our legislators to: raise the minimum wage to $15 an hour and end the preemption rule, offer driver licenses for all, fully fund all of our public schools, and permanent funds for the Whole Home Repairs program.

We know when our communities can save for our futures, start businesses, get training for good-paying jobs, seek higher education– we can participate fully in our world.

PA families deserve a living wage that can support a family. We asked legislators to raise the minimum wage to $15 an hour and end the preemption rule that has taken power away from local governments to set a wage for their community.

PA children deserve a great education. We asked legislators to fully fund our public schools and close the gap for the poorest school districts with $700 million in new funding through the fair funding formula and $300 million in new money for the Level Up program.

PA families deserve safe, stable, healthy homes. We asked legislators to continue the highly successful Whole Home Repairs program and tackle housing insecurity with $300M in full, permanent funding for Whole Home Repairs.

PA families deserve to be safe on the road. We asked legislators to make our roads and communities safer by modernizing the way PA licenses drivers and offering driver’s licenses for all.
