Josh Finkelstein
Local Policy Coordinator
Growing up in the NJ suburbs of Philadelphia made Josh aware of the region’s vast inequality in education funding, which led him to pursue a career in politics. Since then, he has worked for organizations and campaigns to address issues including environmental protection, health care access, and ethical government. In 2018, he served as Field Director for a state senate campaign and successfully mobilized the largest voter outreach program Lehigh County had seen to that date. He then served as a Constituent Services Director for a Pennsylvania State Representative, where he helped the Chester County community make it through the COVID pandemic and advocated for reforms that streamlined their access to state resources. For the last 6 years, Josh has lived in the Manayunk neighborhood of Philadelphia with his partner. In this time, he has led mutual aid efforts to support struggling members of his community, supported multiple progressive candidates for office, and initiated a grassroots organization aimed at improving voter turnout along the Ridge Avenue corridor. When he is not organizing for social change, Josh enjoys hiking and exploring the city. He holds a bachelor’s in international relations and history. As the Policy Coordinator for Make the Road PA, he is responsible for local policy research and advocacy support centered on the needs of members.
